British Army North Africa Campaign Tank Transporter Grouping

British Army North Africa Campaign Tank Transporter Grouping

Code: 10857

This grouping comes directly from the family of James William Farrow, RASC - Driver - 9 Tank Transport Company, C Platoon. James Farrow served in the North African campaign and went on to serve in Italy. Included in the lot are release book, photos of the veteran in service, thanks giving service booklet, record of service paperwork. There are some significant items of interest offered here, including an Afrika Korps cufftitle, brought back from North Africa. The veteran was also in Milan and was unfortunate enough to witness the hanging of Benito Mussolini and his Mistress Clara Petacci, which included, is a an original photograph of the bodies hanging in the Milan petrol station. Also in the photos taken during the war he captured the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

The veterans service medals are also all included in their original packaging: Italy Star, North Africa Star, 1939-1945 Star and the War Medal. Sadly the defence medal was stolen when lent for a school history display, but ribbon and packet remain.

More photos available upon request.

These items are being sold on consignment directly from the family of the veteran.
