A superb painted / part painted Third Reich bowl. Manufactured by RK Grünlas Sudetengau 1939 and stylised with this intricate art work for the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, the 1st SS and body guard of the Führer. The design features a soldier dressed in Waffen SS uniform, with the Totenkopf Motif at the top centre. This was an elite Germanic unit symbol and was used on all SS cloth headwear. The red bordered LAH standard blows in the background. The featured lion is called the Isted Lion and was located at the SS Lichterfelde Barracks in Berlin until 1945. There are a handful of plates made in this style, all examples I have seen have been for the SS and all have incredibly detailed art work, I have not seen two examples the same.
